A rainy day brought my daughter and I into the Artworks studio on Nacogdoches for Open Art. She is always drawing and coloring so I was sure she would love the opportunity to paint and create. What I love most about this place: freedom for creative expression without the mess at home! The studio is divided into several stations where kids can use different mediums to create the own masterpieces. I loved the unique tools used for painting such as toy cars and texturized balls rolled onto paper to make some very interesting designs. I had a chance to chat with Lisa, the owner, who has been running this business for almost 20 years. You can tell that she really has a knack for understanding kids and finding innovative ways to foster artistic expression.
